I know this is probably not a good place to ask, but it seems like some of the more knowledgeable people on lighting are passing through here,
Would the 9011/9012 bulbs in a set of Spyder clear lenses with an upgraded harness and 4Hi mod be a reasonable amount of light? Not HID bright, and not as **** as the stock housings and bulbs?

I know having them aimed and all will help tremendously, I just don't want to be blinding people with low beams even if they are aimed properly,

the HIR upgrade is fine in all high beam positions but not for the low beam in a clear lens......the 9011 and 9012's do not have a "black tip" to prevent glare to oncoming drivers.

there are a variety of good bulbs out there, but at this point i KNOW the Philips Xtreemision +100% and the Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited +110% off a temperature around 3600K and put out a LOT of light, way better than stock......considering we have the 2nd ********* size lamps ever to adorn a vehicle.

i bought a harness from gmachinz after i found him somewhere....he'll be making me another more comprehensive harness for my auxiliary lighting soon....i'm very happy working with him and his work is top quality, of course there's other ways to do it.....a wrench for every nut.

i know "beam shots" aren't a true representation of what our eyes see and every camera is different, but what my camera captures here is pretty damned close to what i see.....mayhaps a wee bit more "white" than in real life, but this very close.

Might as well post some beam shots from the Anzos with the Sylvanias I linked since we're getting all scientific up in here again...

Yup....just as I figured. My stock lighting is garbage, I had a pair of Aux lights that helped a lot, but the wiring came unhooked for some reason when I had to put in a new radiator,

I feel like I would have better lighting with these trucks if I duct-taped my mag-light to my fender,

I appreciate the information too! I've tried looking through Shovelbill's thread but there's so much information it's hard to find somewhere to start,
Although I do wish there was a few more shots of the lights mounted on the truck in the thread too, they look like a relatively stock-looking housing which is what I want to go with,

seriously....start at the beginning......i think you can get all the HEADLIGHT information in the first 40 pages......after that it's even more of a crap shoot......but there is damned good info in there, posted by some damned good folks.......don't blame me, i try real hard to go off topic......LOL

and GLASS sorta stock looking is what i wanted.....the combo is a little "bright", as in modern new looking, for me......but it grew on me. i'm a "stocker" kind of guy.

Here is an example of a typical 4-HI headlight harness I build-and as stated I can build to suit as well.

Not the best image, but I've some unknown manufacturer glass lensed Anzo style lights; it's got some sort of Sylvania bulbs for lows, and some unmarked bulbs for the highs;
