XJ Steering Shaft Upgrade (88-94 Trucks) 95+instructions on page 31

Quick question: I have a 92 K1500, which year model XJ Shaft 80-94 or 95-96 would work and more importantly fit better?.

I'm wanting to buy a new shaft rather than go to a junkyard. I just don't know which year shaft to go with. Can someone please help me before I make a mistake?

The OP said 84-00 XJ shaft. Not sure what the difference is of the ones you found. I have a 91 XJ shaft in my truck and it works fine.

they should all be the same, if theres a difference youll have to hop on some xj boards and find out. to the other guy, someone just slopped whatever headers on there that they could find it looks like because those...from all the sets ive seen are not for our trucks.

For 95+ trucks a 94-02 Dodge Ram lower steering shaft is supposedly a direct replacement for the Chevy lower shaft

EVO has an extra joint in the steering shaft. This can allow the shaft to get out of line and can effect alignment. I replaced the rag joint in my 97, it is a lot better. It took out almost all of the slack.

Got me a shaft from a 1986 Cherokee at our local pick your own lot. Jeep only had 105000 miles on it and shaft is tight. Looked at one with 202000 miles and it felt sloppy. Cost me 25 bucks.

Its not the EVO that is the problem, its the steering shaft it self. The EVO uses a different shaft set up. That being what it is, IMO, if you were to remove the section of steering shaft ( on your truck) that bolts to the steering box, then mark the length, and cut off the rag joint connection, and cut the U joint off of the CJ shaft so it will replace where the rag joint connection was. Then do a proper weld connection, I don't see why this would not work. Keep this in mind though, If anything happens because the weld joint fails, you will be open for a law suit, because you modified the steering of the truck. I highly recommend that a certified welder do the swap for you, if you can get one to do it.

This may be a dumb question but when I do this up grade will I need to get a alignment?
