Has anyone on here ever done a LB7 Duramax swap into a GMT400? I'm kind of playing with the idea of swapping one in my 99 Suburban.

Look up fermenter here and on dieselplace. He swapped a duramax into a 400 suburban. There is also a guy in dieselplace that is called duraburb.

I know a fellow racer who did it with an LB7 and he also integrated the BCM. I asked about his swap and read about another and both seemed happy with the swap, but would not repeat it. Apparently it's a real ************.

Yeah, I mean, cost is typically a factor, and Duramax engines are usually $$$$$$

Seems like by the time you're done you could have bought a Duramax pickup and just drove it. Unless you have alot of money and are doing it for cool factor, in which case, that is awesome and I can't wait to see it.

Yeah, it was just an idea I had. I like everything about a gmt400 more than I do a gmt800. I'll probably just stick to the lq9 idea engine wise. Nobody would expect a duramax suburban though!

It would be nice for sure, but at least, bare minimum , 5 grand to do and I bet easily double that.

Ive thoroughly researched this. A Duramax gmt400 suburban would be so F!@#ing cool. I only know of 1 in existance.

It can totally be done, but it will take time and skill to do it right. You will pretty much need a wrecked truck to be a donor since there are a lot of parts involved. I REALLY wanted to do this but have decided that a beefed up small block or ls swap is far more feasible and affordable.

Here are some links that may help:

You could check out Copart for a donor vehicle. Not sure about your state requirements on buy a salvaged vehicle though.
