It's technically 2 liters, which is a little over 2 quarts. If you go to the dealer, they sell special transfer case juice in liter bottles, but they use them in every make/model out there, and they all just recommend ATF.

This okay? Says for most GM applications pre 2006, only list dexron III

Yes it will be fine, Dodge's say use their special ATF also, it's the same case, so I have to beleive that, in the end, it doesn't matter so much.

I realized this will be fine for the t-case... I forgot I was also intending this to go into the trans, will this mix okay with dexron VI? If that's what's in it, with the new converter I read that it should have come with VI already in it..

Honestly, I doubt it will matter, but for safeties sake, I wouldn't mix backwards. I'd put Dex 4 in a Dex 3 unit, but not vice versa.

So, i'd like to ask for opinions here. I bought a truck with a bad engine in it back in April. I just got the engine back in, and started driving it around. Truck has a whine coming from the drive train above about 35mph. IT gets really bad around 55-60mph. This morning on my way to school, the transfer case blew up. What would cause it (the transfer case) to do that?! And is that even a sound a transfer case would make, or might it be from the axles? Also, the truck is a '98 K1500 with a 5.7l, a 4l60(e?) and the Z71 package. It would have an NP243, right? Thanks.
