hey I have a 1999 Chevy suburban k2500 3/4 ton and it's getting a lift this month. the tires I have chosen are 385/70/16 (38x14.5x16) and I don't really want to get into a body lift and I can't afford a 8" or 10" suspension lift. can I clear those tires with a 6" suspension lift, bushwacker cut out fender flares and maybe cutting some of the front bumper? I'm running 16x12 wheels with -50 offset and 4.5" of backspacing. let me know what I can do to clear these tires, I really don't want to get into a body lift. way too much of a hassle but I know it's the easiest option. please help me out!!!!

honestly with a crank and 6" lift, its pushing it... The front bumper WILL need trimming and also the front rear section of the fender. My 35's rub with 6+3 and 2.5" offset, but only on the sharp point of my front bumper at full cut backing out the drive way. B

With tires that wide, wheels that wide, and that much offset, you're going to need a body lift unless you plan on doing a lot of cutting. 6" lift usually calls for 35s.

I really don't want to get into the hassle of doing a body lift. I don't want to take all my interior out to get to the body lift. I like the idea that if I don't touch it I don't have to worry about it failing. I figured the Bushwacker fender flares would let me clear a 13.5 MAYBE a 14.5" wide 36" tire. so considering that maybe would a 6" suspension, 2" torsion key and the flares work? like I said, I don't want to get into doing a body lift and I'm just not going to lol. I need other options. maybe if I can come up with an extra $2,850 for an 8" lift kit I'll buy it but it's a lot of money. the tires are $377 but I'm getting a 40% off deal on my tires and wheels from a friend. 100% brand new. so the tires are gonna cost me around $1,100 and the wheels are only like $550. I was trying to just get it started for $3,000

Why would you have to take of the interior out to get to the body lift? Just curious why you say this.

do I not have to on a suburban? I've replaced the carpet with a vinyl floor mat and when I pulled the carpet up it had rectangle lids on the floor right above where the body mounts are. don't I have to pop those open to get the body lift on correctly? I have never done a body lift, this was a friend who has a body lift told me I would have to take the interior out to get to the boxes to get the bolts for the body mount in tightened and tightened

No, you don't have to take the entire interior out. You take the bolts out of the body mounts, pick the body up, insert spacer, place body back down, and install new longer bolts. IIRC you have to take the driver seat out and peel back that small section of carpet but it's to get to a cable. It has nothing to do with the body mounts or spacers themselves.

You touching it does mean it's going to fail, and you not touching it doesn't mean it's not going to fail. But there's not much to fail in a body lift anyway.

You can forget about the 2" torsion key. Keys are useless on these trucks to begin with and several of the 6" suspension lifts are closer to 5" drop, meaning a 2" crank past 6" would give you angles similar to a 3" crank on stock suspension. (Not good)

what are the square or rectangular boxes on the floor then? I don't see why there even there if that's the case. how do the bolts tighten down? do they go upwards and go into a welded in nut? I'll have to take a look at it later. if I do a 3" body lift why do I need to take the drivers seats out? what cable do I have to get to? also I heard when doing a body lift I'll have to get new break lines.

The bolts are pointed up, yes. No new brake lines will be needed, typically there is more than enough brake line in the engine bay to make up for the BL. For an automatic truck, I believe there is a extension for the shifter cable.

how long would you say it takes to install a body lift on these year trucks? I would end up doing a 3". I still don't know, I kinda didn't want to get into a body lift
