4wd Hub Replacement

Great info!!! I'll need to do this when I start tearing into my truck. Kawamatt, I can tell from the bolts that you had already changed the ball joints on your truck. Mine still have the factory rivets. I plan on doing control arm bushings at the same time, so I'll probably take the control arms off and bring them to work to deal with the rivets. If I go that route I can sandblast everything and paint it all while it's off the truck. Do you remember what size socket you used for the hub nut on the axle?

i believe it's a 36mm

it is a 36 mm for certain. atleast on the 1500 it is.

Just finished doing a full front end rebuild on my truck. I must say this write up helped ALOT!!! The only issue I need to resolve is the routing of my new braided stainless brake lines. Looks like they might rub the tires in turns.

it's not a 1500 it's 8 lug for one thing.

let me add this, as for your aliper barely slide off deal, this is why ANYTIME you go to remove it you FIRST pry the pads over to compress the caliper piston. a Big c clamp or using a screwdriver/prybar works to do this. C -clamp is the best of course.
