One of my buddies picked up a scrap truck with OEM flares on it and I got the idea to colormatch them pewter. I know it would look weird with the oem wheels being tucked in but I plan on getting MT classic 2's or something similar. Would a 4" backspacing fill out the flares well without being wider than them?

What do you guys think about the idea? Here's my truck and a shot of what I plan to do.

I think they would look great, the wheels on my truck in my sig pic are 4.51 BS but I am running 285's. I think 4" would be good.

I would think that the 4" offset would be perfect with the flares. I was surprised my stock rims and 285's didnt seem to tucked in with the flares on.

Now that I look at it I think a 4.5" backspacing would look fine with them? Looking at a wheel with 4" backspacing it looks like they stick out pretty far. I'd like to keep the tires level with the edge of the flares to keep from rock chips and also because a low & wide stance looks kinda weird to me.

For another comparison here are 15x8's with 3.75" backspacing with the same flares.

Now that you have some good pics to compare too, I agree that 4.5" would be best if you are really wanting to keep rock chips down, I know if I had flares on my truck the tires would be flush or a bit inside the flares.
