I installed a bigger cam that doesn't have enough vacuum to run the brakes. Would an aftermarket vacuum pump and canister solve my issue or would I be better off converting to manual brakes? Also what pump would you recommend.
P.S. I hope this is in the right place.

Manual brakes??? I would say, only if this truck is track only. Manual brakes haven't been on trucks in yeeears.

I know very little about vacuum pumps.... never had one. I think it's typically a diesel thing. My suggestion would be hydroboost.
"3rd"-ing hydroboost. Not only does it solve the low vacuum boost issue, it actually results in stronger brake boost than the vacuum setup ever had. :)

What are your cam specs? It'd have to be pretty wild to keep you from having enough vacuum.

I'm all for putting in a wild cam but thats an interesting choice for a full size pickup truck that I assume will be mainly street driven.

Too bad it won't run right without extensive engine and vehicle mods--way more compression ratio, and deeper gears, to start with. If you had enough money to set up the engine and the vehicle to match the cam, adding hydroboost would be relatively inexpensive.

That cam was a total waste of effort. The cylinder heads won't support the RPM band it's intended for. You threw power away along with the driveability.
