Default high shift points/late shifts trouble staying in a higher gear

my tranny seems to be shifting late or have to take foot off gas for it to shift and if i hold it and shifts way to late and revs way to high for my liking(3500-4000rpms every gear). also the speedometer is 10 mph off so i looked into replacing my vss but i dont wanna spend the money without knowing if it is for sure. i also read if your tps is off that could also cause it which theres a way to reset? if anyone knows it would be great!

Is your service engine light on? TPS sensor will do that on the newer trucks. Since the speed is off I would say the speed sensor could be bad or at least the wire to it.

Have you tuned the vehicle at all?

yea the owner before me got it tuned for the cam he put in. but i have no info on where or what duration of cam he put in so i'm not sure what kind of tune he got otherwise. which is also a concern of mine. is there anyway to check the if the wire is working correctly?

its done it since i've gotten the truck. i just never got around to caring to recently with my this oil leak ive been getting concerned since i need this truck to live. its my way to work and school ect. the high shift points concern me cause if i give it no gas it still wont shift till 3500rpms and it really doesnt need to shift that high you know? unless i let my foot off the gas then it shifts. but if i give it to much gas it down shifts back up to 3000rpms+. its just a real annoyance and cant be good for the engine or tranny

I would blame the tune before hardware failure.
