NP241 from a 91 V20 Suburban or a 88-91 K5 NP241 with a short bearing 32 spline input swapped in.

We have a 1990 GMC 2500 Suburban and a 1990 Full-size Jimmy and we were told that the NP241C was only available in '90 and '91....Is there a different NP241?If I do decide to use a GM front diff what year should I go with or does it matter? Also if I go with a Ford diff and can;t find a Dana 60 will a 3/4 ton HP Dana 44 be stron enough to hold up to my big block and 39 to 42 in tires? I won't be using it for wheeling very often as it will be my daily driver but I do live in an area that can get alot of snow and rain and I live on 20 miles of dirt road.

The passenger drop 241 was avaliable from 88-91. 90-91 are the only years it had VSS and not a cable speedo.

The 44 won't just implode, but I wouldn't invest a lot of faith in it's durability with BB torque and 39-42" tires.

I would like to post some pics but it's far from ready.....It's got no front or rear glass in it....no front diff.....mismatched fenders/hood...cab/doors...bed. Someone told me to use a Dana 44 but I didn't think it would hold up with my BB has a couple of mods.....if I can't find a Dana 60 I think I will have to swap T-cases and find a GM 1-ton Diff....

do not use a d44 with a bbc and a tire that big, it won't handle it, even with the high dollar shafts and ctm joints it will still break and the wheel bearings are too small for that weight, the cost to upgrade that 44 also would put you well into the cost of a 60 in the first place and still have weak ball joints and bearings.

if you do go passenger drop d60 there are a ton of deals around, i just saw a 93 dodge d60(same as chevy axle) for $600 this morning
