Hi all, new to this site. Been searching but no luck. Can anyone tell me if trans fluid can/should pass thru from trans to t-case on a 97 chevy k1500 and how much fluid should the t-case hold? I'm kinda new to these years of trucks. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, David.

No.... There is a seal on the front of the transfer case to prevent this. If its bad, the transfer case will overflow out the vent, and you will lose transmission fluid probably without knowing until it slips.

I pulled the fill plug to check it and fluid gushed out so I pulled drain plug and ended up draining bout a gallon. Vent tube never puked any out and trans is full. I did find out there is a double lip seal that goes in there and got one already. Im changing trans fluid and filter also. I appreciate the info. Thanks, David.
