Pitman arm and steering box visual inspection... here's before I removed pitman arm... Kinda think the play is the shaft itself tbh..but idk... Wonder if that uneven seal or metal plate at bottom of shaft is a clue... Movement feels very slight but the video shows different ... the entire box...

Thanks. I think I may try to swap that new proforged pitman arm they sent me as a replacement when I did all of this work after that first one was not fitting..This was almost 2 years ago... I ended up putting a Moog on because I couldn't wait... It did go on pretty easy...No coating inside...

Since the idler is off I figured I'd give the centerlink a shakedown and video the different areas. I'm not sure what to make of it since I don't know what's reasonable movement with the idler gone. Obviously things wouldn't be moving like this. The pitman arm ball joint also looks suspicious a...

I have the Cunningham shaft..and a year and a half old Borgeson steering box..... Shake is only noticeable at 70mph... I haven't been doing that ... the steering slop is nothing I'm not experienced with considering my old stuff...but disturbing for sure.... Yeah, a really big brake chain tried...

I can't see anything wrong with them but will try to figure out the best way to test... Again... They seem fine... I mean everything but the lower ca bushings is less than 2 years old. GM upper ca bushings....but they could have been tweaked.. or alignment shop left bolts loose if they even...

yes The steering shaft does. This was discussed starting on page 4 post #35...I can't recall the exact steps we took..... I'll look over this when I get a chance to digest...thanks.... Not sure...Had the tires rotated and balanced the other day and it did not help. May take it to a shop that...

Yeah many shops....fill in whatever you want here...I could start with a couple negative stories but that would be for another thread...lol but to be fair, are you saying my asking this is a good idea? Your response to me asking is confusing. I agree...But I just started looking last Wednesday...

wonder if checking this place out wouldn't be a bad idea? Could maybe steer me in the right direction if nothing else?..heh https://www.eandrtire.com/Shop-For-Tires/Road-Force-Balancing

Weird...I was just logging in to note that, after looking over my records, the idler arm bracket is a Duralast Gold from Autozone and the idler arm is an AC Delco from Amazon.... I think I had planned on using my original bracket and had to run up the road to get the bracket once I realized it...

yeah.. About 7 months ago I went oot.. 400 mile round trip.... felt shaking at 70mph....heard some noises in town driving.....this trip I decided to look under while at the job and noticed the passenger outer tie rod flopping around. Bolt for adjuster sleeve was totally hand tight...Tightened it...

I don't know of anyone . I used a mobile mechanic that I took a chance on when I wanted to pull my transmission to do some stuff and he was really good. But we actually spent a little time on forums when things went sideways so I'm just getting that part out of the way first I guess. Hopefully I...

Obviously getting desperate.... Looking at the passenger front tire, I can see unevenness when I spin it --looking straight across the tread using a level area to focus on if that makes sense. There's one spot that goes blup blup on the tread...But I can't find it...Can totally see it though...

another test drive after replacing driver's side bearing... Same deal... Idk... pretty convinced the shaking stays when I put it in neutral.... whatever that means.... Power steering pulley pretty wobbly... Guess I'll get a transmission mount.. At least I don't have any popping when taking...

went on another test drive.... Apart from realizing how crappy the roads are, even new resurfaced ones, I'm not making any progress..... still shaking... want to say it feels different every time I goof with something... just the personality is different....but same issue if that makes sense...

damn...I'll check..felt tight yesterday but I didn't put a torque wrench on it..... I just cranked down both sets of lbj nuts too...Not sure I trust my wrench at 45lbs or even trust 45 lbs is good enough....kinda violent process getting the original rivets out...can't imagine a little extra...

thanks....thought crossed my mind about drive shaft areas...although usually that felt more like a faster vibration to me in the past......this is more of a shaky feeling... .... lug nuts are torqued way past where they should be afaik....tire place just rotated and balanced them the other day...

Just got back from hwy test. Didn't go well. Definitely can't feel good about driving this until I figure out the high speed shake. it used to be around 60 mph, now it's maybe 70 since re-torquing that lower ball joint.... Happens when in neutral too so I'm assuming it's suspension related...

The 93 wiring manual may help with some direction until someone familiar with your setup can chime in.. Looks like the diesel has your transmission... https://www.gmt400.com/threads/88-98-service-manuals.43575/

Thanks. I was actually planning to reach out to Borgeson since I still have a bit of time left on my warranty. Hopefully they'll tell me if this is something they recommend vs returning it. But, if they see this thread they probably will say do what you want, it's yours now..lol... Just trying...

Yes.... I think it's gotten progressively worse over a couple of months but that's for another time. I did mention it in some other threads about the Borgeson....maybe I hurt it with these other issues....

Steering didn't move at all when shaking 3&9..but pitman arm did as before.....wife was holding steering tight.... she said she didn't feel anything fighting back but I'm sure it would've been slight anyway....

Sway bar link angle and popping noises..etc

Pretty sure they are the ones that came with the ball joint. My old ones were riveted. Whatever that means.... Maybe... I'm sure I used the same torque wrench but I think the german spec would be good in this area at least? Thinking about doing that anyway..

I know I can't with the steering shaft if that's what you mean. Wen the truck is running I can barely get the pitman to move by hand turning the steering shaft but that's when it's supposed to. Ok. I need to wait for reinforcements to return. But if the pitman doesn't move when truck steering...

Sway bar link angle and popping noises..etc

I did this last week when trying to see where play was coming from in my steering. There's a very slight bit of play left/right before pitman arm moves...if that's what you're asking.... but I just took video of turning my steering wheel...and although the shaft moves like crazy, the pitman...
