I have it for nearly 10 years. I have built up a stock of spare headlights so that I have them on hand when one gets broken by a rock.

Being a slightly older bloke, I always liked the raised white lettering on tires, probably a carry over from the white walled tires back in the early days.

G'Day fellow Kiwi, that's a nice looking truck. I found with the quad headlights that I had to lower the right hand lens to keep it from blinding oncoming drivers.

I’m a DA…what maintenance have you screwed up?

I have to agree with you on all 3 points. But #3 is the really important one when dealing with the first 2.

Groaning steering (lots of creaking while turning wheel) video

It sounds like one of the ball joints is dry to the point of seizing. It would be easy to drop the tie-rods and check whether it's steering or the upper/lower ball joints. Whatever it is it's definitely seizing and needs replacing before driving again.

Down here, and in Aussie, we have amber turn signals that work independently of the brake/park lights. As a new vehicle it was required to meet the Aussie regulations. The big problem with buying a converted vehicle is not knowing which parts were used and which parts were custom made when doing...

I figure that when doing a conversion there has to be a cost/labour point that has to be set so the vehicle is still affordable to a buyer.

    Tie rod ball joint question.

Keep in mind that the passenger side rides on a much rougher section of road than the drivers so you can expect anything on that side to wear out sooner. It's the passenger side that rides on the edge of the tar-seal where it meets the gravel etc.

My retired neighbour told me he loves hearing my truck start up and drive off at 6:00 am, but his wife doesn't share his enthusiasm. :waytogo:

We use the term "bull bar" as well for a solid front bumper in case of hitting stray stock on the road. A "brush guard" is a lightweight version for when pushing through scrub and keeping it out of the radiator.

    Why Hallo!

From what I was told the original owner in the US brought it over when he moved here and then later sold it. I bought it after a couple more owners, it's an '88 and has been here since 1997.

    Why Hallo!

Welcome from New Zealand. If the motor runs fine, and does the job, then just keep on maintaining it. The pleasure is in driving these trucks, and it is more pleasurable when you don't have to pour money into them. If it decides to let you down, well then start looking to upgrade but you can...
