Cleaned up the glass and the inner door guts. They were a little gross. Dyed the existing inner door handles to match the rest of the interior trim, duplicolor black. Painted the door sills and inner door skin. Assembled the door and the inner latch. Leaving the outer one off for exterior...

    Wanted: SIR modules and sensors

Location: Ontario, Canada Year:1995 Model:C1500 Hello all, I am looking for the frame-mounted airbag sensors and the associated wiring harness. Mine did not survive the rust. Arming sensor - 16162465 Front left crash sensor - 16228285 Front right crash sensor - 16218905 If anyone has a set...

    Ac issues

Isn't the blower motor resistor on top of the HVAC box? Did you pull the dash to access the connectors?

Old floor jack no longer holds. Time for a new one.

In the future you could try heating it with a torch. A little delicate application of heat to the hub/wheel mating surface and the tire pops right off. It takes about thirty seconds per tire. I do it every spring when it's time to pull the winters off.

    Interior lighting won’t turn off

Does your new lighting switch have a "dome lamp off" button? Does it work? With that button pressed, you should have no interior lights at all.

I was pulled away from the truck last Friday by a basement flood and emergency french drain install. So I haven't managed to get a finish coat on the doors yet. But I did manage to get a few coats of body filler on the bedside. I use different colours of hardener between passes to help...

ISO 1997 5.7 LONG TUBE HEADERS

Here is a write-up from someone who did it. I have no experience with exhaust mods, my truck is stock, but buddy sure seemed confident it worked.

Install hvac box without firewall pad only kilmats

You can run your kilmat right up the firewall, it won't melt. I did mine two years ago and have had no issues. I did put the pad back overtop of the kilmat, though. Also, when you install the kilmat, it's worth it to put foil tape on the joints where the sheets meet. I found that it tended to...

Don't see too many fires near me, luckily. Last year I think we had maybe two smokey weekends. Although a smoke effect might work if I paint some flames on the fenders lol

Sanding and paint prep on the hood and doors. This stand is normally for moving sheets of glass, but it worked well for standing the doors up to work on them vertically. Also it allowed the water to drain out the bottom. Hung the doors to make painting easier. The first two coats of primer...

Spent part of the long weekend finishing the body adjustments. Got the body lines tracking properly now. I had to shim the back of the cab up by putting a 1/4" plate between the cab and the cab mount. Between my replacement floor pan and new frame bracket, I was a little off with my fitment...

Thanks! Based on the rust, I'm pretty sure they're the original leafs. I just cleaned them, painted and repacked them. Also, the rake is off right now. I have to shim the cab to square it up a little better, and I haven't tightened down the suspension yet. So the height of the rear appears a...

Paint touched up and box installed. Picked the box off the bike stands with the winch and chains to stakes in the corner pockets Backed the truck three-quarters of the way under the box, then slid the hoist on the track until it basically lined up Sat the box down, threw a few bolts in it...

    Headliner

I made my own backer board out of coroplast. It didn't turn out perfectly, but it's an option maybe worth considering since you're already considering fab work. https://www.gmt400.com/threads/my-95-rclb-c1500.59020/post-1299831 My thread has some pictures of the headliner at a couple stages of...

Fair point. I can definitely use the practice! I have a few other spots to practice on, too. Inner door panels, door sills, even the inside of the bed, since it's getting a liner. Thanks!

    Wiring issues

I'm not an incredibly experienced electrical troubleshooter. But I think this is a really good place to start looking. The fuse box is plastic. The stand is plastic. So what could possibly have arced? My vote is you've got a pinched or frayed wire in that area that's causing a short. Maybe...

Got my first coat of finish paint on the cab rear and box front. Trying to get these two back together for the last time. I think another coat or two and they'll be ready to go. Spend most of the day doing other small things + paint prep so I ended up spraying around 9pm. Redneck light...

    Ineed help with bodymounts

Do you still have the old mounts to compare to? Could be the old ones were just absolutely squashed. Are you sure you ordered the correct bushings? I know there are different height bushings depending on where on the truck they go. Maybe you mixed up the rear mounts and the front ones? Or the...

Patch panel welded in Curvature seems to match ok. 90% happy, it's low right at the weld. That will make it easier to taper the body filler away from it, though. Lines up nicely on the cab, too. I still have to close and spot weld the crease at the bottom, but it's almost done.

Trucking along, making progress. A few frame paint touch-ups, before the box goes on and I can't get to it as easily. Cab corner is basically done. Just a little glazing putty to fix a few small imperfections, then the back of the cab can get its coats of finish paint. Finished welding the...

    Steering shaft slop

Try undoing the bolt at the top and the rag joint at the bottom, remove the two shafts from the truck, and explore how they connect. On mine I had to replace the shim and I packed some bearing grease into the larger shaft to make it easier to install. This also gives you the opportunity to...

Really wish ppl would stop bringing me trucks with hydraulic fluid in trans

It's a high school chemistry joke/pun on the double meaning of "solution." The combo of soap, water and alcohol is both a solution to the problem at hand and an aqueous "solution." I had to check in with Merriam Webster for this, I couldn't remember the definition of solution. I guess the...

    Steering shaft slop

The steering shaft is in a couple pieces and designed to telescope if you drive into a wall so you don't get impaled. How that works, if I remember correctly, is a curved metal shim creating friction between the small square tube centred in your picture and the larger diameter tube below it...

Busy couple months! Finished the sun visors to complete the interior trim. Pretty spiffy! I had a mobile glass company come out and swap the busted rear slider glass for a solid piece. Only cost $200, and no more plastic blocking my rear view. I am buying every half-decent driver's door in...
