    1995 C1500 ECSB

Picked up a front valence tonight for $30. Huge improvement! I also took the truck on a ~100 mile test drive. Did okay, definitely needs more work. It needs an alignment BAD, somehow it scrubs the tires on minor turns. The brakes pull heavily to one side, and the passenger caliper is...

    1995 V6 TBI Code 43 issues

Who knows, but it was Napa, Oreilly’s, and Autozone that all have them listed that way. It’s correct otherwise (ohm value), and the passenger side sensor is listed correctly. I’m sure there’s a plug and play one out there listed under another year or model, but I didn’t have time to hit every...

    1995 C1500 ECSB

Fixed some other runnability issues, one of the knock sensors failed and the TPS was reading low. Engine runs far better now! I also somehow blew apart the idler arm while greasing the front end, so that also got a new replacement! And gave her a bath! Not bad for $500!

    1995 V6 TBI Code 43 issues

Alright, new knock sensor fixed the issue. Disassembled the old one and it was full of rust, making a bad connection. Replaced both wire connectors as well. The only issue I ran into is that the factory sensor is 1/4-18 NPT, and ALL the parts store replacements are 3/8 NPT. I simply turned the...

    1995 V6 TBI Code 43 issues

For sure. At least this is the easier one to get to, lol. I’m going to replace both connectors with new as well.

    1995 V6 TBI Code 43 issues

I think I figured it out by accident. Reinstalled everything, ran truck, code still present. Was going to try unplugging the sensors and substituting the new sensor as a test, starting the drivers side KS. Installed the new sensor, code cleared and didn’t come back. Removed that sensor and it...

    1995 V6 TBI Code 43 issues

Okay, here’s what I got. The sensors definitely have different color wires, but apparently they must splice in the harness somewhere, because they ohm out together and both only ohm out to the B15 pin on the ECU, not to the green one at B13. I also reinstalled the ECU and disconnected both...

    1995 V6 TBI Code 43 issues

I *think* I tested them unplugged, but I can’t remember. Probably not individually. I’ll pick up a new sensor after work tomorrow though and retest. It looks like the flow chart wants them unplugged to test voltage. It’s interesting though because the diagram shows a single wire for both...

    1995 V6 TBI Code 43 issues

I have a 1995 C1500 with the TBI 4.3L V6 that has a code 43 issue that I’m a little perplexed on. It’s had this code before I purchased it. The truck sets this code immediately with just the key on and not running, if it’s cleared, it sets again within 10 seconds. This engine has dual sensors...

    1995 C1500 ECSB

Replaced the bad studs and resurfaced the manifolds. Replaced the garbage quick connects with standard fittings. Moved the restrictor over. Everything back together! Moved on to replacing the lights Next step, lowering the front Took a little over half off the springs...

    1995 C1500 ECSB

Head gasket kit showed up today! Tore the top end down to replace them. Gaskets definitely showed their age. This was as far as I got tonight, more to come tomorrow!

1” front drop spring OBS extended cab

TBH, I prefer the higher spring rates anyway, for two reasons. I think the factory rates were too soft. I hate the overly floaty ride, I’m not driving a ‘59 Cadillac. Two, the higher rates are a compliment to a shorter spring, as you’re starting off closer to the ground and have less...

1” front drop spring OBS extended cab

That’s what I figured, lol. Is removing 1/2 coil still equal to 1” on these trucks?

1” front drop spring OBS extended cab

Hey guys, I have a 1995 C1500 extended cab shortbed, 2WD with a V6. The truck came with a lowering shackle already installed at the 1” hole, and sits level to me. I would like to drop the rear to the 2” hole, and lower the front 1”, but there doesn’t seem to be much available. Belltech offers a...

    1995 C1500 ECSB

Yup, clean title. Supposedly even still has good registration! And yeah, the truck and trailer has been getting a workout recently. This is what I picked up immediately before it.

    1995 C1500 ECSB

Definitely not the GMT800 style  Although, I’m curious to see how they got it to fit. I considered the 454SS style, but wondered they might look too small on an extended cab. Also dug out the other set of taillights. Scored these for $75 off a Tahoe in the junkyard

    1995 C1500 ECSB

Last night I ordered a Felpro top end gasket set and a set of head bolts, new air filter, and new coolant line fittings. Hopefully it’s just the gaskets and not the heads, but I have access to a parts motor if it’s needed. Once I get off work for the weekend Thursday evening, I’ll start...

    1995 C1500 ECSB

Did a little bit of work on it today. I had noticed the TBI looked pretty crusty, so a rebuild was in order. Noticed this too. Oops. All back together. I ran it for a while and knew the outlet fitting on the water pump was leaking and could smell coolant, but after a minute or so of...

    1995 C1500 ECSB

Thanks! I also picked up this front light kit a year so ago at a garage sale. It was brand new in the box, $50! I think this will be a great one to use it on.

    1995 C1500 ECSB

Hey guys! Made another unintended purchase this week! I picked up a 1980 C10 RCSB up in Fairbanks this past weekend, and the seller asked me to deliver a part to his friend back in Anchorage on my way down. When I delivered the part, the guy asked me if I knew much about Chevy trucks, and asked...

Slight rant - what’s with all the cheap ass lift kits?

Mostly this. These kits aren’t fresh designs, most OBS trucks are ~30 years old now and full spring kits used to be widely available. The Squarebody kits still are, most times at or under $1000. Squares were cheap and plentiful, lift kits were cheap, so you could build a decent off-road truck...

    TBI with no injector pulse

That’s too funny, I was actually looking at the same diagram. So I realized that although I had checked for grounds at the ECU, I hadn’t actually checked for power, I just assumed it was there. The orange 12v wire that feeds both ECU connectors, the oil pressure switch, and the fuel pump relay...

    TBI with no injector pulse

This has to be a stupid easy solution that I’m overlooking, someone school me on this please. Truck is a 1987 (square body), with TBI. Truck ran and drove, transmission and transfer case were worn out, engine ran well but was leaky and dirty. Pulled all three, rebuilt transmission and transfer...

Slight rant - what’s with all the cheap ass lift kits?

I guess. I remember when Skyjacker offered a full 6” kit with rear leafs for $1500. Now $2500 still doesn’t even get you that! Honestly, I bet one could SAS for close to that price.

Slight rant - what’s with all the cheap ass lift kits?

This is more of a vent than an actual question, but what’s with all the lift kits being cheap crap these days? I sold one of my DD cars with the idea of picking up a 4 Door Wrangler for some off-roading. However, I ran across a 1990 K1500 RCLB for a fraction of the price, and thought why not...
