Talking about those 327's, I used the L79 350hp 327 cam in a car I had, 4spd headers and carbs but mostly stock. I really liked it, reasonable torque and it would wind as far as it could go and still got 20mpg on road trips.
Keep it simple, start by inspeccting the cap and rotor and the distributor parts and the wiring plugs going to it, and the hot wire to the coil, and coil to distributor.
Skirts are cool on those. I love those pontiacs, The Grand Prix's are nice. I had friend the had one restored that was gorgeous wtith the tri-power but I like the Catalina roofline better.
1988-93 will have the same plug. You will have to make up wires for the gauges missing from your old cluster. You will need do find schematics on the cluster your installing and compare to the old one. 1994 custer can be made to work but you will have to add a DRAC module for speedometer.
