Barely Running Believe its a CMP issue.

Engine had 180k when I installed it, but completely resealed it prior to installing it 3k miles ago. I did not surface the heads or the block. So I guess my rushing at that point may have led to this.

I completely agree. I am so glad the issues presented themselves while still in town. If this had happened out in the wilderness this would not have been a good situation. I will get it sorted out in time and will be better off for it.

As far as I know they did not. Based solely on the bubbling. I'm going to tow it home, and then do a compression test and a combustion gasses test.

Well I suppose I should update here as well. Never got moving on my actual planned camping trip. As I was going around Las Vegas starting to pick up that last minute things we were gonna need, and start my grocery shopping, the truck started to misfire. It got a little worse, and then real...

2nd shop states "vehicle overheating due to blown head gasket, recommend new engine" I had not experienced any overheating prior to it being in their shop. I don't doubt that it was with how long they had it running and how hard they were revving it up. They didn't perform a compression check...

First shop was pretty much stumped. Referred me to his sister shop, and a specific technician. With his snap-on scanner he did pull some codes. MAF, CMP, and both downstream O2 sensors. He cleared the codes and they didn't come back. He did slave in a new IAC, and MAF and didn't change...

Well I think with my limited tool availability and not really having anywhere besides auto zone parking lots to work on the truck, I will be taking it in to a shop tomorrow. Hopefully they are able to diagnose the issue at a minimum. If I was home I would spend months troubleshooting if I had...

When I had the sensor unplugged I was getting -45.7 or so. During operations it will be all over from various ranges 25, -20, 11, -15 etc. I'm not ruling out wiring, but from what I was able to inspect everything seemed good. Granted I could only look about 6 inches back. And didn't have a...

Update. I was just messing around with it and got it to miss while shifting from park/drive etc. During this time no CMP Offset fluctuations. So maybe the fluctuations are due to the misfire? Still seems like a lot of slack somewhere, but I am trying my best not to drive it until I find a...

So here's the update for today. First thing this morning I went out and unplugged the cam position sensor. I needed to get about 3 miles down the road to the closest Autozone. During the drive, no misfires or anything. CMP Offset was reading -45.7. I got there, and shut the truck down and...

Well I think the game plan tomorrow is to remove the cap and rotor, if everything looks good there, I will try a cam position sensor. I really don't want to replace the whole distributor again. We will see what happens though.

It was from O'Reilly, I'd have to look through receipts

Exactly. I remember when I installed the dizzy that even at about 6degrees I was getting a code. Now I'm fluctuating over 80 degrees total. The distributor is locked down. One of the first things I checked.
